Measure Your Feet to Buy Athletic Shoes Online

People shop for products and services online each day. Some are hesitant to make an online purchase due to the inability to 'experience' a desired product firsthand. It is common for online retailers to suggest 'experiencing' particular products at brick and mortar locations before making an eventual online purchase.

Some may be hesitant to purchase athletic shoes online due to sizing concerns. It can be disappointing and an annoying to purchase items online only to find they are the wrong size. To ensure you're getting Air Force 1 shoes or other fitting athletic shoes, read the following measuring suggestions:

Materials:
large sheet of paper
tape
measuring tape
pencil

Tape the piece of paper on the floor. Take off your shoes and stand on the paper. Trace a line around the circumference of your foot and repeat the process for the other foot. Measure the length of each foot. It is common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other. Take the higher of the two measurements and add a half inch. That is the inch measurement for your new athletic shoes.

Tips to go:
- Feet may be more swelled in the evening from the day's work
- Be cognizant of sock thickness. You'll want to leave additional space for athletic or thicker socks

Choosing Kids Athletic Shoes

Athletic shoes are very popular with kids. They enjoy the thought of a new pair of sneakers enabling them to jump higher, run faster, and look better to their peers. Your child will keep you informed of what colors and styles are popular as well as what celebrities are wearing which shoes, but most importantly, you need to know some tips regarding how to choose kids athletic shoes. Read the following to prepare for the next shopping experience.

You may hear your child raving about Nike Air Force 1, Air Jordan shoes, Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, etc., but it is important to purchase shoes that are going to fit well for the child.

- Kids grow quickly and experience growth spurts. This means that the following pair of athletic shoes may need to be a size larger than the last. Measure your child's foot each time you go shopping for shoes. In addition, brands are not created equally. It may be the case that changing brands means getting a half-size larger or smaller.

- Some shoe manufacturers advertise that particular models are good for 'cross training' or aid in performing multiple tasks. It is best to assume a sneaker can help perform one task well. Whether it is a basketball sneaker, running shoe, etc., purchase the shoe to address one task only.

- Examine old pairs of your kids' athletic shoes. See where there is the most wear on them. For future purchases, look for models that provide good support in the previously worn areas. Some children have a tendency to roll their foot inwards (flat feet) or outwards (high arches) and the wear on their footwear will reflect their proclivities.

- Have your child bring appropriate socks when shopping for athletic shoes. Sneakers may fit differently than formal shoes. In addition, different socks can be worn for varying occasions, so it is best to bring thicker, sports-related socks when purchasing kids athletic shoes. Also, it may be best to shop in the evenings because feet tend to swell over the course of the day and this time of day will provide the best estimate of comfort.

- Athletic shoes are meant for performance, so they should immediately feel comfortable. Yes, the shoes will feel slightly more comfortable once worn for some time, but they should not feel stiff from the start.

- It is pretty easy to determine when kids' athletic shoes are worn and new shoes are ready for purchasing. Kids are much more active than adults, so their shoes can provide tell-tale signs of usage. It is safe to assume your child will need new athletic shoes about once every few months.
